Who May be a Member

Those eligible for membership shall include: uniformed Salvationists, non-uniformed Salvationists and non-Salvationists volunteers who exhibit a love and compassion for people; such persons must be recommended by the Corps Officer. Recommendation for membership must be sent by the Corps Officer to the Divisional League of Mercy Secretary who will issue a membership card.

Anyone who has reached the age of 14 may be considered for League of Mercy membership if he/she fulfills the above specified qualifications. (Specific hospital rules regarding age of visitors must be considered.)

Possession of a membership card indicates membership only. It does not authorize a member to do visitation in hospitals and institutions on his/her own standing as a representative of The Salvation Army.

In making application for membership cards, the full name and address of each applicant must be obtained for record purposes. The membership card bears the date when the member began League of Mercy ministry. This will be the date from which the member's record of service is determined for the issuance of all recognition certificates.
